Reopening of schools
We will be reopening to all students on a staggered basis from Monday 8 March to support COVID testing of as many students as possible prior to their return.
Students will be invited in a year group at a time to be tested (which is likely to take a day per year group) and will start lessons on site the following day.
We will let you know testing and return dates for each year group as early as possible next week.
We anticipate that all students will be back on site for lessons by Friday 19 March at the latest. If consent forms have not been returned, this will significantly delay this process.Ā
More information about these plans will be shared with students via student notices and with parents via MyEd updates.Ā
Ā
Covid-19 consent forms
From Monday 8 March, as per government guidance, all students that have parental consent will be tested three times for Covid in the first two weeks of their return to school. Students in Year 12 and 13 can provide consent for themselves but are expected to have discussed this with a parent.
If you have not completed a consent form, please click here to read the COVID testing letter and electronically submit your consent form (one per child). The deadline for returning consent forms for Covid testing is 11am on Tuesday 2 March.
The purpose of the three onsite Covid tests is not only to detect any asymptomatic cases but to also provide training for students to self-test at home. Once the three tests per student have taken place in school, the governmentās plan is for students to move to using home testing kits.Ā

Preparing for re-openingĀ Ā
Staggered approach to reopening for the weeks beginning Monday 1 and Monday 8 March:Ā Ā
Thursday 4 March ā Last day of live lessons for all year groups.Ā Ā
Friday 5 March ā Student wellbeing day ā no live lessons or work on Satchel:one. Students will be provided with optional reflection tasks and non-screen time activities.Ā Ā
Monday 8 March - Wednesday 17 March ā students will be invited in to be tested then attend lessons on site from the following day. Students not yet attending lessons on site will access all lessons via presentations and pre-recorded content on Satchel:one to ensure that staff can be used to support with Covid testing and preparations for studentsā return to school.Ā
Ā
Face masksĀ
When students return to site, all Covid safety arrangements that were in place in the autumn term will continue, including the use of year group bubbles. However, all students will be expected to wear face masks in lessons as well as in corridors and other communal areas of the site. Please ensure that your child has a face mask ready for their return to school. Ā If your child is exempt from wearing a face mask, please ensure that you have emailed cga@clapton.hackney.sch.uk with medical evidence of their exemption. Ā
Ā
Communication with parents
Due to the cost of text messages we have stopped sending these to parents and are only sending regular updates using MyEd. For this reason we must ask and insist that all families now download the MyEd app. If you need any support with doing this, please email sreception@clapton.hackney.sch.uk and we will be able to help you. More information is available here
Ā
Year 11 & 13 exam update
Year 11 and Year 13 students will not be sitting any public exams this summer. Ofqual have announced that centre assessed grades will be awarded to students using a range of evidence that schools have collected over time. This evidence can include pre-public exam results, coursework, in class assessments and optional questions from exam boards that will be released later this term. More detailed information about what this means for students will be shared with parents next week.
