Attendance

One of our Academy Improvement Plan targets for 2022-23 is to ‘empower students and parents to use strategies to support personal and academic resilience so that students attend and thrive’. Our academy attendance target for 2022-23 is for all students to have attendance between 96% and 100%.

It is really important that all students attend school every day as absence has a negative impact on learning and building relationships with others.

If your child is absent or late, please ensure that you:

Contact the academy every morning your child is not attending or is going to be late leaving a message for the Attendance Team with your child’s name, tutor group, and a detailed reason for your child’s absence or lateness.

Contact us on:

  •  020 8985 6641, then option 1

  •  via the MyEd parent app.

To ensure positive attendance:

  • Arrange GP and dental appointments outside school hours.

  • Take all holidays during the academy holiday times. CLICK for academy calendar

  • Only take time off for serious illnesses / sickness/ medical reasons.

Authorised absence can only be given for:

  • Essential hospital appointments - with an appointment card or letter from the clinic or hospital.

  • Serious illness – with a note explaining nature of the illness.

Authorised absence cannot be given for:

  • Family holidays during term time.

  • Family errands or duties such as child care, meeting relatives, translation, shopping trips.

Punctuality

  • Good punctuality is an essential life skill. We encourage all students to get to school early.

  • Morning gates and Breakfast Club are open from 8.15am. Free toast is available for all students at Breakfast Club.

Students should ensure they are on time to school by:

  • Organising things at home to leave home early enough to get to the academy by 8.40am at the latest.

  • Checking uniform, school bag and equipment are ready the night before a school day to avoid rushing in the morning.

  • Planning the journey to school and timing it to make sure they leave home early enough to be on time.

Late detentions

If students arrive after 8.40am, they are considered as late and must make their way to the main entrance in Laura Place.

They will receive a 30 minute late detention to be completed after school the same day and will be asked to hand in their coats, which they can then collect after their detention at the end of the day.

Breakfast Club 8.15-8.35am

Every morning in our Dining Pavilion we host Breakfast Club, providing nutritious breakfasts to children as fuel for learning.
