Future Female Leaders

At Clapton Girls’ Academy, we focus on championing women’s achievements and have a range of leadership opportunities designed to help students gain confidence and acquire valuable experience in becoming future leaders and strong independent role models. As a result, our students are able to develop their critical thinking, team building and leadership skills and also develop confidence in public speaking.

All students are actively encouraged to share their ideas to inform school policy and practice, whether this be through Student Voice activities, PSHCE or student surveys.

Head and Deputy Head girls

Year 13 students apply to be Head or Deputy Head Girl and have to demonstrate outstanding commitment to their learning and school life as once appointed, they take on additional responsibilities within school and act as ambassadors for the academy on a local and national level.

Student Council

Each form group has two Form Representatives. These students lead debates in Collective Time on topics relevant to the Academy's Improvement Plan. The Year Group Representatives, who are selected from the Form Group Reps in each year, then take the collated views to Student Council. The Student Council presents the outcome of debates to the Leadership Team.

It is a fantastic opportunity or the student voice to be hear and for the students to driving changes in our ever improving Academy.

Y8 Ambassadors

Being a Year 8 ambassador helps younger students develop their confidence to speak out and take a lead. They mentor and guide new Year 7 students as they settle in and begin life at CGA in September.

I love being able to meet new families and show them around my academy. I am so excited to meet the new year 7s in September.

Debate Ambassadors

At Debate Club students learn how to debate and express their opinions on a wide variety of current trending topics. They take part in debating tournaments and competitions, learning how to be open-minded in discussions and how to confidently negotiate with their peers from other local, national and international schools.

We came second in the Hackney Debating tournament! We competed against Year 10 and Year 8 students and loved having feedback from them on how to improve!
